These are the iPhone covers I created in collaboration with Uncommon – they’re still available for customization on Uncommon’s site, but now they can also be found for a limited time at Domy Books in Austin, Texas. iPhone 3g and iPhone 4 covers available. Happy holiday shopping everyone!
I missed you! Although I need like 30 extra hours of sleep to get over this jet lag, me and the dark circles under my eyes will be working up a new project at the 2010 Austin City Limits fest all week. Here are some preliminary photos of projects going up… And… check out this light tube. Show up on Friday to see what it’s all about!
Needed: 2 people to work small knitting looms & 10 knitters to make some pieces by hand. As you probably can guess, Magda’s projects typically require a lot of wo/man hours. This fall Magda is putting up her most ambitious commissioned installation yet. It’s going to be here in Austin and Magda’s shopping for some help. Magda invites you to a meeting to kickstart the project, complete with specific details, compensation info, deadlines and more: Thursday, August 26 at 7pm […]
I hope everyone’s having a lovely summer. Texas has been ridiculously hot, a fact that not only discourages knitting but also thinking about knitting. However, Magda’s been lucky enough to be bouncing around in cooler parts of the globe on site visits, preparing for the fall. So sit tight: even though the summer is quiet around here, there are some *very* exciting projects lining up to begin before too long. We’ll have details for you soon. In the mean time, […]
A sneak peak into the production of my next very exciting project going up in Rome next month… My living room has been taken over as a studio this spring, and the floor is covered with these neon tubes. In just a few weeks I can stop knitting for a while and install! I’ll be experimenting with some new processes and concepts for this exhibition at Rome’s Palazzo delle Esposizioni, so expect more pictures and news soon. As for now, […]
I knew very little about PechaKucha until the nice folks at Dyal and Partners approached me about speaking. I’m like “sure, why not?” and then they told me the fun little game I get to play of having 20 seconds per slide to talk… and you see, I love to talk, so this was a big problem. I managed to get through with very little rambling. I am really REALLY glad I had those 2 beers before I went […]
I really love how the iPhone covers turned out over at Uncommon, and it feels great to hear it from the experts at New York Times “T” Magazine. Thanks to Leanne Shapton and my favorite designer in the whole wide world, RACHEL COMEY. “Even iPhones get cold. If you, like me, suffer from acute anthropomorphism, you need to know about about Magda Sayeg. Her blog, Knitta Please, details her latest projects, which include knitting covers for unused signposts in Texas, a Freddy Kruger […]
I was invited to be part of a show in LA where artists were asked to reinterpret the paper doll. I conveniently added toilet to the beginning of that title. There are random memories we all carry with us into adult hood. For me, knitted and crocheted toilet paper roll holders are one of them . I would see different interpretations of these (as well as wine bottle covers and tissue cozies) at the church bazaar when I was a […]
