On Saturday, Knitta hosted an Etsy pop-up store at West Elm in Houston where we met up with some of our favorite Houston-based vendors and found some new favorites as well. Peruse these snapshots of the good times had (especially with the presence of the Eatsie Boys trailer!!), then click around our fellow vendor’s Etsy shops: Baffin Bags — bags, wallets + storage Beyond Her — printed textiles + more Black Kettle Soap Company — soap + skin care Edie’s […]
I can’t wait to tell you about this AMAZING AWESOME project. I have to be good and keep my mouth shut which is way harder than I thought…but I will distract you ( and myself) with good pics…… Here I am with Jamie, one of the creatives, at a charming little restaurant that serves lots of cheese and meat as you can see. I discovered Patagonia Beer and ate Spanish peanuts. I swear I’m working….. This is adorable Angeles at […]
I am now getting the full Argentinian experience. I had to raise my camera above the heads in this crowded bar that looks like it’s been open for 100 years or more. This man was singing about love and passion and everyone was listening intensely as he sang. The young people are carrying on these traditions and have this respect for their culture that I haven’t seen yet in my experiences. Young people tango as much as the the older […]
I always start these trips with a traditional cocktail. Who wouldn’t?? If I were being REALLY traditional I would have a Fernet and Coke but that is for the brave and young. I settled for this lovely drink, Pisco Sour at Olsons. Not super Argentinian, but I have made up for this in the last few days… First allow me to introduce you to Antonio and Sam… […]

clearly non knitta related but everyone needs a break huh? I am reading this awesome book by Sloane Crosley….. and I LOVE IT! Long plane rides and lay overs are just what I needed to get out of the rut of only reading blogs and trash magazines ( I’ll admit it…and she admits it too!). It is delightful. If you are in Austin, she is doing a book reading at Book People tonight at 7 pm. If not , treat yourself […]
Last week was an adventure: the Knitta team installed our largest scale project yet! We covered over 300 feet of AC ductwork in Etsy.com‘s Brooklyn office space. It took 20 (wo)man days and countless skeins of yarn. (There’s a contest raging on our facebook page to guess how many… get in on the action to win an iphone cover.) Jakob, one of Etsy’s general office handymen and expert driver of scissor lifts, said that before the installation the ductwork looked […]

We’re ready to hit the road with the MINI. On our way out, we’re going to tag a few places around Austin and then have a picnic with some friends, where we’re gonna pig out on Franklin BBQ (YUMM). Nothing like an entire weekend to wander in Texas spring… More photos after the jump.
We’re diagnosing a case of wanderlust and taking a road trip. We got our hands on this pretty little MINI Countryman, but we’re making a few of our own adjustments before we begin. We had a ton of leftover (unclaimed) knitting from last month’s Knitted Wonderland over at the Blanton, so we decided to make this an Austin car by repurposing the creativity and passion of Austin’s knitters. With that project being so short-lived, we figured this would be a […]
